MembershipAs many of you are aware, the “science” of paranormal investigation, evaluation of data and presentation of results is typically not held in high esteem by many in the mainstream scientific community. As long as this attitude persists, investigation and research groups will always be looked upon with skepticism and irreverence. We need to change those opinions by bridging the gap between field investigation and scientific research. A group of various investigation teams have come forward and created the Paranormal Resource Alliance to tackle this problem. We in no way intend to force our standards on the community, however the codes of conduct and investigation guidelines we have created are what we feel responsible investigators should follow. Most likely, if you are a respected investigation group, you are already following the guidelines we have created. Joining our group will give you several advantages. You would belong to a foundation that holds professionalism to the highest standard. You will be able to provide references to your clients and they will be able to see if you are on a recommended list which will separate you from those that may not follow a high standard on their investigations. You will be able to vote for changes in the PRA as it grows so that we may better represent the community. Training will be available as well as certification courses. We understand that there is no “one way” to investigate but certification processes will make it easier to separate “thrill seekers” from those who wish to conduct paranormal research professionally and responsibly. There will be conferences, “field trips,” and other events that will not only educate but will also be fun and exciting. We will hold outreach efforts geared towards the general public to help demystify paranormal research and investigations as well as give them information on what to expect and look for in an investigative group. We are not an investigative team, but rather a resource that wishes to bring the paranormal community together under common goals. With your help, we foresee our efforts subsequently evolving into a specialized science-based association. This is your chance to be involved in this process, which we believe will define the future of the paranormal investigation and research community.
